Prior to last Saturday (9/29) Bentley = 71/104 (68.3%), 780 yards, 6 TD, 3 Int. 7.5 YPA, 7.4 AY/A Lawrence = 39/61 (63.9%), 600 yards, 9 TD, 2 Int. 9.8 YPA, 11.3 AY/A
Lawrence tied with Tua for best TD/attempt ratio in the nation.
Ace, you still feeling good about your prediction that the only way Lawrence finishes with more TDs than Bentley is if Bryant or Bentley gets injured?
CLEM's receivers were wide open because the offense is so well-balanced that GT didn't where they were going to get it next.
It would be a mistake for Dabo to see how good a runner TL is and risk injury when he doesn't need to do that to win games at this point.
However, CLEM will need a running QB in the post-season.
Dabo is queuing off of Saban as far as the dueling QB stuff goes. Time will tell if it blows up in their faces or not.
Yes, still feel good. Especially since Bryant has already been injured and missed time, giving Lawrence more snaps and an improved chance at getting the starting job. So it sorta has already happened to give Lawrence more snaps and TDs.
But I hope that Lawrence gets the starting job - it improves our chances of beating you guys. Your Offensive game plan is based on DTs and your success against us is due, in large part, to the running ability of your QBs.
Lawrence is a good passer and your WRs are the strength of the Offense, so you will get passing yards and passing TDs. But your O Line has never been that good and your Running Backs and run game are much more effective with a DT QB. Soooo.....
Your rushing attack will fall off and your QB will take a lot of hits. Well, maybe not during the season - the best D that you will play the rest of the year will be us. The ACC is pathetic. But Lawrence will be cannon fodder for a good D.
I have watched most of the snaps for both Bentley and Lawrence. Lawrence is the beneficiary of a lot of YAC - shorter throws that guys take to the house because of poor Defenses. One of his TDs Saturday was basically a hand-off - you got a 5 yard TD out of it because GT could not tackle their own mothers.
Ah yes, the screen pass argument. Too bad I already posted the AY/A numbers. Lawrence airs it out far more than Bentley. Not even close actually.
Clemson’s rushing numbers are significantly better with Lawrence in the game. Teams can’t load the box anymore.
7 Lawrence drives yesterday had 217 yards rushing on 24 carries (9.1 YPC) 4 Bryant/Brice drives had 31 yards rushing on 12 carries (2.6 YPC)
I hope Clemson keeps struggling to run the ball like that with Lawrence
