1. My guess is Clemson knows deep down that if given the opportunity, Dabo would be on the first thing smoking to Tuscaloosa. I don't know if anyone listened to his acceptance speech for the Bear Bryant Award. But there's no way if you were a Clemson fan, that you could have listened to that and not started picking up on that reality.
2. If the (Clemson) players start having the attitude of their fans, it will be a collapse of epic proportions.
3. All things being relative, he’s (Dabo) still underpaid.
4. (Bama is) Living in their heads.....rent free.
5. Is this the most doubt you've felt headed into a season?
Honestly, I am still stunned at the way the Championship game turned out. I never saw it coming, and doubt many others did either. We will have an explosive offense for sure, but what about the O-line and D-line? Do we have quality depth?
I feel very confident. Clemson was better prepared than Bama because they had been practicing for that game for a year and Bama was worn down by a tougher schedule. I fully expect the defense to be much better this year and the offense will be the best in the country. Injuries can change anything, but if our team stays healthy, enjoy the show.
I’m confident we return to the playoffs but I don’t know if that translates to beating Clemson. But we maybe the only team that can.
I think the Clemson game was an aberration.
At first I felt we were straight-up beat, with the ominous possibility that "the torch was passed" and Alabama was in decline. But I feel better about the loss, they had an easy schedule and spent the whole year preparing for us, we had indifferent coaching and especially playcalling/adjustments etc. I think we are in great shape heading into A-Day, with a dozen blue-chips still to get to campus. The only true area of concern is ILB, and we are shaping up to be great just about everywhere else.
6. VENABLES
I don't think he did anything that impressive last night to be frank. He goofed Tua twice and his DL talent took over the LOS in the 2nd half. I don't want to give a guy a pat on the back for giving up 450 yards because he caught the college QB with a trap coverage twice. He called an adequate defensive game for a DC getting fantastic support from his own offense.
The general thinking from talking heads here in Columbia is that Venables is being ultra-picky with HC jobs. He's completely happy at Clemson and is already paid such that many smaller D1 schools cannot match his current salary, so he can afford to only consider upper tier jobs. He played and coached at Kansas State and many felt he was waiting on that job, but KSU bungled that and now has hired the North Dakota State coach, which may or may not be a good hire (successful FCS HC versus successful FBS coordinator).
He has been contacted for HC jobs the last few years.... He is waiting for the right opportunities. To get him to leave Clemson, It has to be one of the top 10 jobs most wanted similar to Kirby Smart situation. He saw what Kirby did and he is using the same process. I do think 2019 will be his last year as a DC.
should have asked which were coots and which were Bama's.
I figured it out.
Whose thoughts are these?
Sounds like a Coot or SECond place League.
Uninformed thoughts and assumptions.
