I’m sorry to post about Clemson, but heard on the radio it’s a tradition for Clemson to wear their “orange britches” when they have a chance to clinch a championship. Guess they’ll wear them against BC.
Must be a new thing...boy, they are trying to find tradition under every rock. Literally, they use a rock for tradition...
They also first lost in them to us in the 84 game
To offer an opinion from the other side, they further lost any luster under Tommy Bowden. They wore orange pants every other game.
Course no one said anything cause he beat Carolina most years to save his job.
Yep, and one more reason, I do not get excited to see them. The big mistake was made when it was decided to let the "senior players" decide by vote when to wear them. I am not sure who made that decision, but I think that it was Danny.
Those pants kind if lost their luster when they turned into just another uniform option for a number of years.
When was the first time Clempson lost in those orange britches? Funny you left that out. 1984- blew a huge lead and a 21 game home winning streak when the Gamecocks ripped out Clempsons hearts 22-21.
Bowden also broke out the purple pants. Those were hideous. I’d love to see them come back.
They are typically worn on Military Appreciation Day along with the purple jerseys, in honor of the purple heart recipients from Clemson I believe.
Knew they worn them in the early 80s but I was a toddler. Think Dabo maybe the one who switched it recently to only wear when the game is for some sort of championship. I like it, but thats me.
