I have C&P the entire thread I found over there on one of their sites. it's a 3 page on going thread about Clemson cycling out in recruiting and on the football field... Good fun read on a slow weekend when you are not watching the "Masters"... Enjoy ...

When I saw the title of the thread, I actually thought you guys were running out of money. You know, offering bicycles instead of cars and trucks. Or, since Dabo's Fun Park has a nappy-poo room, maybe it was tricycles.
Yes, the gap is closing. You got 17 players, 5 were fill-in 3* guys, so you got 12 4* and 5*. We got 23 with a bunch of 4* players - 8, Ii believe. We now have a full roster of 85 players, which will make a big difference, and can still add a Bryce Thompson - a 5* talent - or a grad transfer to provide instant impact.
Then there are the things that make you go whuuuutttt.....Like Rick Sandidge being ranked way higher than Josh Belk, only to have that flipped at the 11th hour. Or Dakereon Joyner putting up better numbers than Trevor Lawrence as a Sophomore, Junior and Senior - against better competition - and being ranked much lower.
So wait until 4 years from now and see how the two classes panned out. I have a feeling that you wish that you had our class too.📷 📷 📷 📷

First of all, I generally agree that the gap is closing. Not b/c of Clemson recruiting, but b/c of USCjr recruiting. This was an impressive class for you guys IMHO.
Now that being said Ace, some of the crap you spew is just plain crazy... Our coaches evaluate players the same as yours do. So yes, Clemson signed 5 3-star players and USCjr signed 13 3-star players (Rivals). Yet ACCORDING TO ACE Clemson only signed "fill in" 3-star players while apparently USCjr signed 3-star players that are going to make Clemson WISH they had USCjr's class. How do you figure that? Clemson only signed 1 5.5 rank guy (USCjr signed 4) the lowest 3-star rank and that was a kicker.
And Bryce Thompson is a rank 5.8 four star player. He's ranked in the 220's nationally. That's not a 5-star talent. I did check with ESPN (not even in the top 300 Nationally) and 247 has him ranked similarly. But I guess he a 5-star talent BECAUSE ACE SAYS SO. Transfers have a mixed record for sure. Some guys do very well, but a LOT are NOT impact players. After all, they are already on a team and elected to quit and move somewhere else.. that's generally NOT because they are starting and killing it every week.
Sometimes the recruiting services get it wrong, no doubt. But there is a HUGE correlation between success at the highest levels of college football and the recruit class rankings. There's a reason that Bama is the best program in the country... they get the best players year in and year out. And that's reflected in the recruiting rankings. Sure there are some programs that under perform and some that over perform, but you'd better be bringing in the talent year after year if you want to compete at the top level.
So in four years, who knows, but based on history, it's likely that Clemson's number 8 class will outperform USCjr's number 19 class.📷 📷 📷 📷

By definition the gap isn't closing, it's increasing. That's what happens when Clemson continues to sign more 4/5* than SC every single season. 4 more in 2018, 4 more in 2017, 7 more in 2016, 6 more in 2015....you get the idea. And we're supposed to believe that the talent gap is closing?
Now, what exactly is "5* talent"? Is that someone who isn't a 5*, but you personally think that they should be, so you start calling them a "5* talent"?
Lawrence had a better YPA, total yards, passing TDs, and completion percentage. So because Joyner rushed it instead of handing the ball to the RB (like Lawrence), he's suddenly had a better year? Errr, ok. No one thinks Lamar Jackson is better than Baker Mayfield because he had more total yards/game and TDs/game against better defenses.
One QB is capable of starting at 80+% of FBS teams on the first game of the year. Joyner will need a RS season, then ride the pine, then will still have to battle for the spot his 3rd year with a 3* QB. Super impressive. We're all terrified. Just like we were supposed to be with dual threat (unpolished passers) Nunez and McIlwain. Then Bentley was going to be your gunslingin' Favre clone. That's turned out well. Yeah, they've all been super impressive.
The question is: who do you have coming in after Joyner inevitable disappoints?📷 📷 📷 📷

You go Ace!!!
No, it will be evident in Year One. On the field and in the record.
The re-evaluation is done in Year Four. But we will all know way before then.
But enjoy that recruiting trophy. Put it with the preseason championship trophies. You win those a lot more of those than real trophies.📷 📷 📷 📷

Look at the numbers from the Shrine Bowl. Hell, look at the regular season stats and results. One simple conclusion: Bryce Thompson > Derion Kendrick. And it is not close.
So congrats on the recruiting trophy. I would rather have the better results on the field. And it will be obvious in 2018 and even more obvious in 2019.
How about 3* Deebo Samuel compared to 5* RayRay McCloud and 5* Deon Cain? Pretty decisive recruiting win for you guys, huh? You can have your 5* flops and your recruiting trophy - Deebo will be rocking it in 2018.📷 📷 📷 📷

I'm having a hard time remembering so maybe you can help me. How many rings does the almighty Deebo Samuel have?
Better yet how many times has he played a full season without getting hurt? Dude is made of glass and already has the injury prone label.
Also Bryce Thompson might not even qualify. I guarantee you Kendrick will have a better career than Thompson. Last thing, how the hell are you going to compare Kendrick to Thompsons stats when Kendrick played qb all year for his hs?📷 📷 📷 📷

Numbers from an all-star exhibition?
Don’t tell me: you draft your fantasy football team based on Pro Bowl stats too, right?
In their 3 years on campus, Cain had 20 TDs and 2000 yards while Samuel had 1300 yards and 13 TDs. Not the best example. McCloud has more yards but much fewer TDs. Sure Samuel is injury prone and is incapable of playing a full season, but that’s the hand you were dealt. Stop acting like Clemson missed on Cain and McCloud. In 3 years they combined for 3300 yards and 24 TDs.
Has SC ever had a WR duo that combined for that in a 3 year stretch? Nope. Not even close, actually. And yet they are “flops”, lol.
So who was Clemson’s last “5* flop “? Apparently there are several📷 📷
