What a trash conference. No way those fools should go to playoffs. They play nobody. A 2 loss SEC team should get in over them. Hard to believe FSU has fallen to where they are now no better than coastal Carolina or Georgia southern. Cocks would beat them by 30.
Cant argue with the OP. The taters would probably go 6-6 with USC schedule.
Teams that should be in playoff Bama USC UGA LSU
I'm not sure we'd go 11-1 with their schedule, but it would be seriously easier than what we currently have. Just looking at the teams this year, outside of Clemson, the best of the ACC would be lucky to finish 5th in the SEC. Boston College, NC State, Virginia, and Virginia Tech are all kind of clogged in 2nd-5th in the conference, and I doubt they can beat Kentucky, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, or LSU.
We used to play in the ACC. Won it only once, 1969 as I'm sure you've all seen the lone banner at Willy Brice, with a seven win season that year. Highly doubt we would go 11-1 in ACC any year. FSU has been a dominate program basically since they've joined (since many of you have been alive I want to bet). Face it dude, Clemson is second only to Alabama right now. It sucks, but you sound pathetic whining about it
As much as I hate to say it Clemson is still Elite . ACC is Garbage , probably one of the worst conferences in America but CU is on another level . They would still be better than anybody else in the SEC but Bama . The difference is , every game would be a battle for them in the SEC especially against the UGA’s and LSU’s . They definitely wouldn’t be running thru the schedule like they do in the ACC . FSU is a total disaster right now .
Let's be honest lol they would roll the east. They go toe to toe with UGA pretty much every time they play. Every other game I can remember minus maybe one in the 90's and to Todd Gurley was a nail biter. Outside of a close game against UGA, just who else in the East do you think they would lose to? I think they'd give Florida a pants off asswhipping personally. Even outside the east, we've seen them play Auburn, TAMU, they'd do just fine in the SEC.
USC in the ACC would make sense and give you more wins and bowl appearances over the years, thus making your football program much more successful overall. I chuckle every time I see posts like this critical of Clemson playing in a weak conference and saying they are weak this or suck that, well it seems to be working for them. They take that mediocre team with a good record and get into top bowl games on TV, then they start getting the top recruits because they are playing on New Years and USC is not. Then those top recruits start actually winning them some games, and before you know it they are beating Bama while the USC fans are at home pulling for the conference vs their actual team. No doubt the SEC is much stronger top to bottom and its a war most saturdays however maybe it helps Clemson during bowl season to not have to go thru that each week and are healthier during bowl season. Whatever Dabo is doing over there is obviously working.
If I honestly take the blinders off and look at this, the way I see it if us and them switched schedules is:
Clemson
Coastal W, Georgia L(Lawrence not ready yet, Bryant still playing, closer than bama game last year but 'dawgs use similar game plan effectively) Marshall W, @vandy W, @kentucky W(yes taters can actually beat ky), Mizzou W, Texas a&m W(probably more of a spread in taterville than in college station), Tennessee W, @Ole Miss W (rebs can score but can't stop taters, Closer than bama but taters still pull away) @Florida W (gator d good but o not so much, opposite of ole miss but same result) UTC W, USC W.
Truth is this year they'd probably be at worst 2nd in the east, losing out to Georgia for trip to Atlanta but if Georgia did stumble twice, I don't think they'd beat Bama in ATL, maybe LSU though. 11-1 or 11-2(sec title loss) new years 6, Sugar Bowl most likely
USC Furman W, @Texas A&M L(until USC proves otherwise), Georgia So. W, @GT L(d on field all day with damn annoying offense GT runs) Syracuse W, @wake W, NC State L(their offense more consistent than ours +revenge factor for last year) @Florida St. W(damn they've fallen off!) Louisville W(be fun to pay back Petrino for years of painful losses) @BC L(Cold weather up there, big BC backs, good o-line and good play calling by BC staff=miserable day) Duke W(better show up to play or could be L) @Clemson L Still about 7-5, probably Belk Bowl, or Music City Bowl, or even Pinstripe Bowl.
I believe USC pays $$ to get into bowls. I grew up in Columbia, SC. West Columbia, South Congaree. And, MAN, I'd pick the hottest days to run!!
