Tigers in Fifth as Play was Suspended During Third Round
Clemson, S.C.— Freshman Ivy Shepherd shot a one-over par 73 on Saturday to lead the Clemson women’s golf team in the second round and is one-over par thru 12 when play was suspended during the third round of the Mason Rudolph Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn. The Tigers finished the second round tied for fourth with Auburn at seven-over par 583, and fifth when play was suspended in the third round.
Vanderbilt has the team lead at 15-under par when play was stopped due to weather. The host team is led by Abbey Carlson, the individual leader who shot an impressive six under par 66 in the first two rounds. ACC foe Wake Forest is in second, at four-under par.
“We had a bit of a struggle today, but the girls fought hard,” said Head Coach Kelley Hester. “The course set up was really tough and the rain started in with about six holes to play, so we hope we are able to finish up tomorrow at 9 a.m.”
Shepherd is the top Tiger with her three-under par 69 opening round and a one-over par 73 in the second round. She has 11 birdies between the first two rounds in her first collegiate tournament.
Freshman Alexandra Swayne is even after 47 holes, while junior Ana Paula Valdes is eight-over after an opening round of three-under. Lindsay May and Gracyn Burgess are 11-over and 12-over, respectively, when play was suspended.
Play is scheduled to resume on Sunday at 9 a.m. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
