Nimmer Wins Maui Jim Intercollegiate
Tigers Finish Sixth as a Team
Clemson, S.C.—Bryson Nimmer picked up his second career individual medalist honors at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate at the Mirabel Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona on Sunday. His final round of 65 on the par 70 course helped Clemson to a 274 team score and sixth in the 14-team field.
Nimmer trailed Arizona State’s Chun An Yu by one shot entering the final round, but his round of 65 was not the best round of the day. Alex Shead of Augusta shot a 64 in the final round.
Nimmer’s Sunday round included five birdies and no bogeys, finishing the 54 hole tournament without a single bogey. He closed out the final three holes with birdie-birdie-par and finished with 16 birdies for the tournament, tied fourth for the most in the field with Tyler Strafaci of Georgia Tech.
At the end of the first round on Friday, Clemson was in 14th with a 282 and moved into a tie for sixth with a near team record 267 on Saturday.
In addition to Nimmer’s 65, junior William Nottingham shot a three-under par 67, his best score of the tournament. Sophomores Turk Pettit and Kyle Cottam added rounds of 70 and 72, respectively while freshman Jacob Bridgeman had a 76.
Clemson returns to the course on September 30 at the Nike Intercollegiate in Dallas, Texas.
