Tiger nation is waiting with anxious anticipation on TWO announcements that are basicaly "out there". Will the "Big 3" stay for another year or all go pro. Will Zion Williamson come to Clemson or not.
If the "Big 3" stay, Clemson pretty much gets locked in at #2 for the playoffs, assuming they dont have another Syracuse or Pitt moment, which we all know is possible, yet neither kept us out of the playoffs. WILL the Power Rangers return in tact??????
If the "Big 3" do not stay, then the reins of the defense is turned over to folks like Higgins, Pinkney, Yeargin, Kelly, Thomas and Henry. Thats NOT a bad group to turn it over to. Although Cain and McCloud left, Higgins, Rodgers, Overton and host of others are waiting their turn to shine, and with Hyatt returning, along with 5 new big bodies joining the mix, the OL will lead the way for whichever quarterback wins the battle in the fall. Etienne, Feaster, Fuller, Choice and Dixon is a solid backfield returning. Clemson, IMHO, still has a clear shot at the playoffs with a balanced offense AND a balanced defense. The key returnee on defense? Brent Venables.
Zion Williamson? Well, it goes without saying that this ONE recruit could make a difference, for at least next year, but by all accounts, Zion appears to be a one and done for whoever he plays for. NCAA basketball is the ONLY sport where you can have one and dones. Football and baseball, you have to be in school at least 3 years. Until that changes, youll have one and dones. If Im not mistaken, Clemson has only had ONE of these type of players...Skip Wise, and sadly, we know what happened to him. Wonders what might have happened had he stayed and got his degree.
