Losing the commitment of Korey Foreman stung a little. This isn't to say that he won't finish visits and come back into the fold. Last week, Clemson was able to land 4-star RB Will Shipley over Notre Dame. Shipley's commitment lessened the blow a little. Clemson now has 10 commitments for the 2021 class. So, who might be next?
Enter one Barrett Carter, 4-star linebacker out of Suwanee, Georgia. The 6-1 220lb linebacker is currently rated as the 4th best OLB in the 2021 class and the 6th best player in his state. He helped lead North Gwinnett High School to a 12-2 record. As a junior, he logged 76 tackles and 9 sacks.
The tigers currently has the top inside linebacker in the country committed in Jeremiah Trotter, Jr. Adding Carter to the class would give Clemson a force at LB for the next 3-4 years.
So who else? Current Georgia baseball commit Roy "Bubba" Chandler, 6-4 195lb, was offered by Clemson a couple of days ago. It sort of came out of nowhere, but who is going to argue with the tigers and their evaluation of talent? As a junior, Chandler was 167-220 for over 2000+ yards and 27 touchdowns. He also rushed for over 500 yards and 4 more touchdowns. CSN is keeping an eye on this recruitment, as is probably baseball coach Monte Lee.
DT Payton Page out of Dudley, NC, is still considered a heavy lean to Clemson. The 4-star 6-4 360 lineman is ranked as the 4th best DT in the country in the 2021 class and the 3rd best player in the state of North Carolina. He developed a close friendship with former Clemson commit Foreman, but that should not sway Page away from the tigers. Page has not announced a decision date yet.
Florida WR Troy Stellato is another lean to Clemson, battling Ohio State for his services. The 6-0 172 WR is currently ranked as the 24th best WR in the nation but could easily move up with a stellar senior season. Stellato has narrowed his final two to the Tigers and the buckeyes. More to come.
Safety Khari Gee has a final two of Clemson and the LSU Tigers. He is considered a heavy lean to LSU but anything can happen.
So, who is next to throw their hat in the ring with Clemson? Barrett maybe? CSN will stay on top of it, as well as other offers that will go in the next future. To date, Clemson has only offered 70 high school players, a very low number compared to most Power 5 schools. When your roster is full and only a handful leaves for the NFL or transfer or simply graduate, there are only so many players one can sign.
