Byron Floyd out of Mentor High School in Mentor, Ohio, visited Clemson this weekend. The 6-1 250 pound long snapper has perfected his craft at the Rubio Long Snapping Camp the last two years. He is in the class of 2020.
According to Chris Rubio, who runs the camp, recently said about Floyd:
" Floyd was impressive at the Rubio Long Snapping Midwest Fall Camp on December 9th, 2018. His ball is really powerful and comes back with good speed. Great frame and he can pass for a college Long Snapper right now, let alone in two years. I absolutely love when he has back to parallel to the ground since he won’t knee hitch. He is very strong and doesn’t need to dip his but pre-snap at all. That motion actually slows him down. When Floyd is on, he is very on and can easily snap a D1 ball. I would limit his reps and just focus on quickness and smoothness of form. Great talent and definitely someone that could push for a TOP 12 Camp invite at VEGAS XXXIII in January. ".
