Tigers Take Wake 4-3 in Game 1

Clemson vs Wake Forest Game One

Clemson will wrap up regular season play this weekend in a home series against Wake Forest. Clemson played last weekend and a mid-week game on the road, continuing their ACC struggles dropping the series to NC State and defeating Coastal Carolina in Conway to take two wins over CCU.

Taking to the mound for the Tigers would be Mat Clark. Wake Forest, however, would quickly load the bases in the top of the first but would leave them stranded.

Grayson Byrd would bring the Tigers out to an early lead in the bottom of the first with a two-out solo home run. Bryar Hawkins would add to the Tigers lead hitting his seventh career home run of the season in the bottom of the second inning.

Bryce Teodosio would bring in the third run of the game on a Logan Davidson sac-fly to extend the Tigers lead 3-0 and Sam Hall would extend the lead to four on a Kyle Wilkie RBI in the bottom of the fifth.

Wake Forest would bring in one run in the top sixth scoring on double RBI. Clemson would prevent Wake Forest from scoring any further in the sixth inning.

After 6.2 innings, Mat Clark walked off to a standing ovation after being relieved by Owen Griffith. During his time at the bump, Clark allowed four hits and one run.

The Demon Deacons would cut the lead down to one after scoring two runs on an RBI as the Tigers would hold on to a one run lead in the top of the seventh.

The Tigers would hold on to defeat Wake Forest to take game one of the series 4-3. The Tigers will play tomorrow 6.
