Clemson, SC

Clemson looked to turn the Tide and snap their eight game losing streak Wednesday night against Tennessee Tech. Freshman Jackson Lindley took to the mound as the Tiger’s starting pitcher and got things going quickly for the Tigers throwing a 123 inning.

The Tigers got off to a hot start offensively and were on the board first. A double RBI from Kyle Wilkie would send both Sam Hall and Logan Davidson across home plate to give the Tigers the 2-0 lead.

Tennessee Tech would add one run in the second inning to cut the Tigers lead to one run. However, the Tigers would strike again in the bottom of the second inning driving in two more runs by Davis Sharpe and Grayson Byrd. \

Jason Hinchman would cut the Tigers lead down to two with a homerun he sent soaring right over Sam Hall’s head in Center Field.

Jackson Lindley would serve as the Tigers pitcher through 5.2 innings before being relieved by Jacob Hennessy. Lindley would allow four hits, two runs and threw a total of 75 pitches.

Logan Davidson would extend the Tigers lead 6-2 as he would send the ball flying out of the stadium bringing himself and James Parker across home plate.

Clemson would add another run in the bottom of the 7th inning. On a Matt Cooper single to left field, Justin Hawkins found his way to home and would extend the Tigers lead 7-2.

Bo Gobin would relieve Jacob Hennessy after 1.1 innings, Hennessy allowed two hits, no runs and threw 18 total pitches. Gobin’s appearance on the mound was short lived after allowing a double to put Tech in scoring position. Ryne Huggins saw a short time on the mound as well. After allowing one hit, he was replaced by Carson Spiers.

Clemson allowed two more runs to come in during the top of the 8th inning with a double down the right field line. Clemson’s lead was narrowed to a 4-7 ball game.

Clemson finally got back in the win column tonight after those eight heartbreaking losses after a 4-7 win. The Tigers will hit the road this weekend for a weekend series with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Atlanta. The Tigers will be back home May 4th in a 3 p.m. matchup with Gardner Webb.
