Tigers Drop Game 2 to Duke

Clemson, SC

omething isn't clicking with the Tigers.

Clemson looked to bounce back after dropping game one in nine innings last night. Sam Hall led the way for the Tigers with 2 home runs and stole home base. But Hall’s heroics were not enough as the Tigers gave up two runs in the 9th, giving the win to the Blue Devils and dropping their fifth straight game.

Brooks Crawford took to the mound as the Tigers starting pitcher for game two. This was Crawford’s first ACC start of the season and he quickly took care of the first three at bat, striking out two and the third lined out to second.

Sam Hall got the Tigers on the board first. The sophomore stole two bases and was driven home on a Logan Davidson sac-fly giving the Tigers an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.

Duke would earn two runs at the top of the fifth inning on a Chris Crabtree double RBI giving Duke their first lead of the game.

A balk by Holt Jones would extend the Blue Devils would extend their lead by two and a double would drive two players in and extend the lead to four.

Sam Hall would hit a two-run homer that would send himself and Bo Majkowski across home plate in the bottom of the 9th but it wouldn’t be enough. The Tigers now have lost 6 consecutive games.

Brooks Crawford falls to 1-4 on the season and the team falls to 25-14 overall and 11-9 in ACC play.

The series concludes tomorrow at one as the Tigers look to avoid the sweep.
