ACC Tournament thoughts

The Tigers have won 19 of their last 21 games and 13 straight ACC games away from home! In my opinion, with the 7-1 win over Miami last night, they have locked up their 2nd national seed in the last 3 years. Monte Lee is now 6-0 in the ACC Tournament at Durham Bull Stadium, and the Tigers have outscored their opponents 28-5 in the tournament!

It took a while for the bats to get going again after the runs came so easily yesterday. Wharton had the big leadoff homer to break the tie in the 6th, and the Tigers went on to score 5 runs with 2 outs that inning, capped by a 3-run HR by Williams, his 16th of the season and 2nd in as many days. They'll have off today and play the winner of tonight's game between FSU and NC State. You should root for FSU for a few different reasons, but mainly because NC State will have a home game with a huge crowd on Saturday if they win! State has also had the Tigers' number lately, sweeping them at Doug Kingsmore this season and winning 5 of the last 6 meetings.

The Tigers couldn't have hoped for a better situation, though. They are 2-0, just like they were 2 years ago, and have not even used Gilliam, Spiers, Hennessy or Higginbotham! Pretty good arsenal for 2 games left, and Miller should be available as well.
